Remove leaves and tender inner parts of celery and set aside. Toss onions, carrots, tomatoes, bell peppers and turnips with olive oil. Place vegetables in a roasting pan and place them in the 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) oven. Stir the vegetable every 15 minutes. Cook until all of the vegetables have browned and the onions start to caramelize, this will take over one hour. Put the browned vegetables, celery, garlic, cloves, bay leaf, pepper corns, Italian parsley and water into a large stock pot. Bring to a full boil. Reduce heat to simmer. Cook uncovered until liquid is reduced by half. Pour the broth through a colander, catching the broth in a large bowl or pot. The liquid caught in the bowl or pot is your vegetable broth it can be used immediately or stored for later use. Although the vegetables are no longer necessary for your broth they are delicious to eat hot or cold, don't waste them! Reviews for Taste of Home: The New Appetizer: 230 recipes for today's party starters (Hardcover) Taste of Home Appetizer is just as I thought it would be - full of tested recipes I could count on. They looked good - and best yet they tasted great. I was in need of recipes for my daughter's wedding. You can see what I was in charge of! My daughters-in-law helped me get it ready and we knew we had a hit when people were asking for recipes after the wedding. I gave my new bride the book to take home and ordered two more - one for each DIL.
Reviews for Taste of Home: The New Appetizer: 230 recipes for today's party starters (Hardcover) I bought this for my Mom for Christmas because they do a lot of entertaining and I knew she was looking for some fresh ideas. She is still raving about this book nearly two weeks later. The recipes are simple to make and use ingredients that you will either have in the pantry or can easily find at any grocery store. There are pictures on every page which really helps too.
Reviews for Taste of Home: The New Appetizer: 230 recipes for today's party starters (Hardcover) This is a wonderful book. If you arern't hungry, you will be after just looking at the pictures and reading a few recipies. So far i've only tried one appetizer, one of the mexican egg roll types and they were just delicous. We ended up making enough so we just had that one appitzer for dinner, it was that great. My whole family agreed and if the first onei tried is any indication of the rest of the book, then this is one of the only book on apitzers you'll ever need.

Making a date night possible with the Avengers Augmented Reality App #MarvelAvengersWMT #CBias

Shopping can get a little tedious when youare taking little ones into the stores with you. Usually when I go shopping Ido it during snack time. This way I can pack a snack and a juice and hope thatis enough to keep my children occupied for a quick trip to the store.Unfortunately, more often than not when the snacks are done so is the shoppingtrip.
Needless to say, I am always looking for waysto keep the kiddos entertained while shopping. They are always ready for anadventure and as a result I have tried to make our shopping trips moreinteractive and fun for them. Sometimes we go on a treasure hunt for aparticular product {usually the last item that makes it in the shopping cart}and other times we play letter games throughout the store. With release of TheAvengers movie my entire family has been very interested in costumes and superheroes.
While both of my boys love capes and helmetsand super heroes, my husband and I are the true geeks of the family. We are allabout gizmos and gadgets and love our Apps. We were both into comics when wewere younger and love Marvel! We have seen Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk, andCaptain America and loved them all! Since we missed seeing The Avengers intheaters I knew that it was a movie that we needed to purchase and when I sawon iTunes that there was an app for that I was quick to download it.
While the movie The Avengers would make agreat date night for my husband and me, the Avengers Augmented Reality App wasreally a treat for the kids and I to enjoy. Earlier this week I took myyoungest with me on a special shopping trip to pick up The Avengers Blue-Ray/DVD/GraphicNovel combo pack {because we love out comics} and dinner for a date night andwe took our Avengers Augmented Reality App on a test drive.
We had ourselves a little #MarvelAvengersWMTAdventure. While shopping wewere on the lookout for all things Avengers. We looked everywhere for TheAvengers products and were quick to check nearby for an Avengers poster tointeract with for the app. It was an interactive treasure hunt that my son andI enjoyed it immensely.

We did not have too difficult of a timelocating some trigger points. The trigger points in the toy aisle and the DVDsection were easy to locate and we had a great time bringing the posters tolife. While I liked taking the quiz to find out which character I would be, myson really got a kick out of taking pictures with the Hulk! Having this app toplay with definitely brought our shopping experience to a whole new level. Itkept my son entertained during the less interesting aisles. It also made methat much more excited about seeing the movie.
Youcan see the rest of my shopping experience via this Google + photo album here.
Once home, the boys and I got to work ongetting everything ready for The Avengers date night. We cooked our MarketSidepizza and baked our brownies and even pulled out some of dads old comic booksto look through. We had the Blue-Ray/DVD/Graphic Novel combo pack all opened upand ready to go for when dad got home. Then we spent some more time paying withthe Avengers App and posing for pictures.

After we put the kids down for the night myhusband and I enjoyed a fun night watching The Avengers movie, eating brownies, and flipping through comics. My husband and I both enjoy Marvel comics as wellas the movies based off of the Marvel comics and we really enjoyed our datenight.

My boys are little, but they too seem to bedeveloping a fondness for the superheroes! Do you or your children love TheAvengers too? Well then mark your calendars and plan your next visit to Walmartfor Saturday,September 29, 2012: there willbe special Avengers Character Appearances in select Walmart stores! Makesure you download the app before you go so that you can make an ordinaryshopping trip an Avengers treasure hunt for the whole family.
Be sure to check out Marvel via their Website, on Facebook, Twitter, aswell as the Exclusive Blu-Ray/DVD/Novel Combo Pack at Walmart.

Mr. Negotiator
My son has become quite the little negotiator. When putting him to bedfor the night he is always trying to talk us into one more story or just onemore minute of cuddles. Everything is a negotiation. Even time-outs seem to beup for discussion. They are not.

My son seems to think that he is calling the shots. He is not.

While I am pleased that my son has great self confidence and believesthat he has control over situations, I am exhausted by the constant battle ofwills taking place on a constant basis. I know that it is natural for childrento test their limits and I know that it is quite common for kids to try and getwhat they want, but do we really need to discuss EVERYTHING?
My husband and I are talking about trying for baby number three very soon.We both want a third child and feel that the timing is right for our family. Iworry about how my oldest will feel about another child coming into theequation. So I tested out the waters with him to see where he was at and wastold that I could have another baby IF he could have a pet dog. Seriously…
My mother-in-law calls it the never ending list. Whenever she tries toput him to bed he talks her into doing just one more item on the list… but thelist never seems to end. It keeps going and going and going, kind of like the energizerbunny. This is fitting, since my son has an endless supply of energy as well.
My home is not Priceline. Everything is not up for negotiation. Althoughmy son’s name is William, it is not William Shatner. I follow through oneverything, rewards as well as consequences. So where does this come from andhow do I work with it?
Yes, I said work with it. I don’twant to squash my child’s curiosity or his self confidence. At the same time Ido not want feel like every time I want him to do something I have to suit upin full on tactical combat gear.
I would love to hear what you do/did! What works or did not work for you?
