Easy Homemade Chocolate Covered Strawberries
I love fruit {as do my children} and with Valentine’s Dayjust around the corner I have been looking for fun ways to combine two of myfavorite things – chocolate and fruit!
Over the holidays this year I made my own no-bakechocolate truffles and I created my own dark chocolate shells. It wassurprisingly simple. So simple in fact that I took a cue from that experienceand used it to make my own dark chocolate covered strawberries for the boys.The gobbled these up like it was no one’s business and when they were all gone,they asked for more.
These easy homemade chocolate covered strawberries aresuper quick to make and easy enough that the whole family can lend a hand. My boyshad fun dipping the strawberries too.
Whatyou need:
  • 6 ounces dark chocolate chips {you can use whateverchocolate you like… we just really like dark chocolate}
  • 1 Container of strawberries {12-16 strawberries}
  • Toothpicks
  • Nonstick cookie sheet – you can use parchment paper ifyou like to avoid sticking.

Howto Make it:
  1. In a microwavable bowl melt the dark chocolate. Heat for30 seconds on 50% power, stir, and repeat until the chocolate is melted {shouldbe smooth and shiny}. Set aside.
  2. Rinse the strawberries and remove the stems.
  3. Stick a toothpick in the strawberries and dip them in thedark chocolate, holding them by the toothpick.
  4. Place the chocolate covered strawberries onto the cookiesheet.
  5. Place the cookie sheet of strawberries in therefrigerator for about 10 minutes to allow the dark chocolate to harden into adelicious shell.

This entire process took about 15 minutes to make and wasway less expensive than store bought chocolate covered strawberries. It was afun “cooking” project for the entire family. My 3 year old and 1 year old lovedhelping mommy and they loved eating these tasty treats even more!
I will NEVER buy another store bought chocolate coveredstrawberry again! These were so yummy, so inexpensive to make, and so easy tocreate. I cannot wait to try out different chocolates, toppings, and fruits!These are a perfect Valentine’s Day gift {especially for those on a budget}.
