Yes, I admit it. I messed up.

Imessed up.

Yup,I said it. I completely messed up. No one to blame but myself.
Sowhat did I do? What’s the big deal?

Iam in the process of turning my house into a home. I believe that part ofmaking a home a more personal space is putting up wall décor that reflects yourpersonal interests or style. This weekend I decided to tackle the wall art inthe kitchen. I had gone shopping and happened across some pictures that I likedand I thought I could hang them up myself. I mean, who can’t hang a picture{this girl, that’s who}.
SoI take out my husband’s tools and get to work measuring exactly where I want tohang my pictures. I knew I wanted them in the center of the wall, at eye level, and out of the reach of my small children who feel the need to touchEVERYTHING! I marked the wall and got to work.
Itook out the little nail and picture hanging thingamabob and hammered away. After my picture was hung my husband breezes by and tells me that what I didwon’t work, because he can see the nail above the picture. Shoot! Okay, secondtime is the charm right?
Myhubby informs me that I will need to drill a hole in the wall and then use ascrew to hang the pictures. So I remove the nail and picture hangingthingamabob and drill some holes and use some screws to hang my pictures. Theylooked great! Kitchen Wall Art
Kitchen Wall Art
Kitchen Wall Art Wellsince I was on such a fabulous role, I decided that I would go ahead and hangmy other pictures in the kitchen {there were two other ones that I was debatingabout}. Since I had the screwdriver and screws already out I decided to justkeep on going with that.

Imeasured the wall where I wanted the pictures to hand and I drilled a hole.Felt a wee bit of resistance, but just assumed it was  a 2x4 I was drilling into. After all therewas nothing else on this wall or behind it (no electrical, no water outlet, nothing)… or so I thought.
Iwent to hang my picture and realized that I made my hole too high. The wirethat I would use to hang my picture was several inches lower than I thought andI wanted my picture to be at the same height as the other pictures in the room.So I went back and drilled a second hole {yes, I did this not once but twice} alittle father down. I hung up both the pictures and went to go get my husbandto look at my handy work.
Wemust have passed each other because I did a full circle of the house withoutrunning into him and the next thing I know I am standing in the kitchen and thepicture is OFF the wall and there is water running down the wall that I hadhung my picture on. It was not a 2x4 that I drilled into. Nope, it was thewater pipe that drains the water from the upstairs bathroom. Great… just great.  Kitchen Wall Art Fiasco  Myhusband was not impressed withmy picture hanging ability. In fact he was quite displeased with my handy work.Needless to say I am banned from trying to be handy on myown. I need adult supervision when working power tools. The sad thing is that Ireally like power tools.

I am thankfully able to laugh at myself and not take thishiccup to heart. Everyone messes up, yes… even me.

I knew today was the 11th of Septemberwhen I woke up this morning, but it wasn’t until I opened my Facebook accountthat I really realized that today was SEPTEMBER 11th.  Every time I look at pictures or read storiesabout September 11th my heart goes out to those who lost their livesin this tragedy. My heart goes out to the family and friends, who survived, yethad their entire world crash down on them with their loss.
Moving forward is never easy, especially in theface of such heartbreak. But I am filled with hope and optimism for the future.

Words cannot express my appreciation to all ofthose police officers, firefighters, armed forces, and all of the unsung heroeswho keep our country safe on a daily basis.
 Thankyou.

My mother-in-law is a real estate agent and a darn good one at that. She has helped us buy and sell homes and we are so thankful for her expertise. Recently she decided she wanted to use pictures of her grandchildren in her advertising. I thought it was a great idea. After all, both of my boys know how to ham it up.

Lean Cuisine #FrozenFavorites
There are many nights throughout the year thatI don’t have to make a huge production of dinner. On nights that my husband hasa meeting or a game to go to I don’t want to spend all day in the kitchenmaking a full blown meal for myself. That is just ridiculous. Needless to say,I am always on the lookout for quick and simple healthy meals.
A quick look at the menu this week told methat I was on my own for dinner on Wednesday evening. “Leftovers” is code forfend for yourself in my home. A quick swipe of the pen and my leftovers gotturned into “Lean Cuisine” and broccoli. Yes, that sounded a lot better thanleftovers. A quick look in my freezer and I discovered I did not have any LeanCuisines.
My husband recently purchased our membershipto Sam’s Club and we quickly discovered the convenience and savings of buyingcertain items in bulk. Since this was a fairly recent acquisition, I had nothad the opportunity to visit Sam’s Club myself and was looking for any oldexcuse to go shopping there.
Sam's Club
Sam's Club  I was pleasantly surprised by the bang I gotfor my buck. Ipurchased the Lean Cuisine – Asian Flavor 6 pack that included the ChickenTeriyaki Stir Fry, the Ginger Garlic Stir Fry with Chicken, and the SesameChicken for $11.25 at Sam’s Club. This is slightly less expensive than myregular grocery store.   Lean Cuisine - Asian Flavor 6 Pack Frozen Dinner

Oncehome it was time to get the groceries put away and dinner on the table. Sinceit was just the boys and I for dinner I decided to try out the Sesame ChickenLean Cuisine dinner. When I eat Asian flavored food I like to either pair itwith an asparagus salad or with sesame broccoli. Since I was going with sesamechicken, I thought sesame broccoli would be perfect.
Ipopped the broccoli into the boiling water and the frozen dinner in themicrowave and in a matter of minutes dinner was served. The sesame broccoli wassuper quick and easy to make and was the perfect side dish for my Lean CuisineAsian Flavor meal. Want to know how to make it?
Sesame Broccoli
Preparation Time: less than 10 minutes
Whatyou need:
  • 1 lb Broccoli
  • 1 Tablespoon of Soy Sauce -low sodium
  • Pinch of Sesame Seeds
  • ½ teaspoon of Sesame Oil
  • 1 teaspoon of Olive Oil
Make it:1.      Cut the broccoli into spears.2.      Place about 1-2 inches of water in panand bring to a boil. Add broccoli and cook for 4-6 minutes uncovered.3.      In a separate bowl combine the oliveoil, sesame oil, soy sauce, and sesame seeds and mix well. 4.      Drain the broccoli and mix it in withthe liquid mixture in the bowl.

Viola! You have a quick and east sesame broccoli sidedish that takes less than ten minutes to make and tastes great! Did I mentionit was healthy? Yup, this broccoli side dish is a great source of Iron andvitamin C.
I really enjoyed my SesameChicken Lean Cuisine meal. It was a quick, easy, and healthy dinner option forthis busy mom. On days when I don’t want to cook and I don’t have to cook I candefiantly see myself reaching into my freezer for this #FrozenFavorites quick meal fix.
Be sure to check out Lean Cuisine via their website,on Facebook,Twitter, andat Sam’s Club.

A Sears Summer Spending Spree!

To contact us Click HERE
Ifeel like this summer has been the summer of SEARS in our home.
Thisyear we bought a new house and needed to purchase a new washer and dryer. Searshad an amazing deal going on an LG set at the time and we got an amazing deal.Once we got settled into our new home we discovered that we had a fabulouspatio and we really wanted to utilize that outdoor space to the best of ourability with a new patio dining set. Once again Sears had a great deal goingand we took full advantage. This summer I also bought my husband a new Kenmoregrill from Sears for Father’s day {he loved it}.
LG Washer & Dryer from SEARS
Outdoor Patio Dining Set from Sears
Kenmore Grill from Sears

Itseems that every time we have needed something this summer for our home, wehave found it at Sears. No, Sears is not paying me to write this. I just wantedto share what a great experience my family has had with this company. Everytime we have needed something, Sears has had the best deal around and theircustomer service is always outstanding. It’s kismet.

Ilike to price things online and see who has the best deal and the lowestprices. Then I like to go into the store and check out the product I like firsthand. After all, a great deal is only great if you love what you are getting. The grill has to be big enough to suit your needs, the washer and dryer need tobe easy to navigate, and the patio chairs need to be comfy to sit in. I usuallyhave questions about product that need to be answered by experts, so headinginto the store is usually a must for me when it comes to bigger ticket items.

WhenI bought my grill & washer and dryer at the Fox Valley Mall Sears I waslucky enough to happen upon wonderful employees who answered all of my tediousquestions with ease and patience. They told me how I could get the most for mymoney and what the best deals were at the time. I really appreciated theirhonesty and candor. They were able to deliver and set up my washer and dryer quickly and were both courteous and efficient.

Laterwhen I was looking into a new patio set I visited the Batavia Sears HardwareStore and was impressed with the employees. As a stay at home mom with twolittle boys, every outing can be an adventure. The employees at this Sears weresimply wonderful. They were helpful and made the process of purchasing a newoutdoor patio dining set super easy. Thanks guys!

Ihave been on a spending spree this summer at Sears and now I have a new need tofill. Our lawnmower is a little sad. It is doing the job, but not for muchlonger. The wheel keeps popping off and although my husband has found a way tojimmy-rig it on there for now, it is not going to last much longer. It keepsmaking really terrible noises and is in definite need of replacement.
Weneed is a new lawnmower… any suggestions?

Reviews for Taste of Home: The New Appetizer: 230 recipes for today's party starters (Hardcover) Taste of Home Appetizer is just as I thought it would be - full of tested recipes I could count on. They looked good - and best yet they tasted great. I was in need of recipes for my daughter's wedding. You can see what I was in charge of! My daughters-in-law helped me get it ready and we knew we had a hit when people were asking for recipes after the wedding. I gave my new bride the book to take home and ordered two more - one for each DIL.
Reviews for Taste of Home: The New Appetizer: 230 recipes for today's party starters (Hardcover) I bought this for my Mom for Christmas because they do a lot of entertaining and I knew she was looking for some fresh ideas. She is still raving about this book nearly two weeks later. The recipes are simple to make and use ingredients that you will either have in the pantry or can easily find at any grocery store. There are pictures on every page which really helps too.
Reviews for Taste of Home: The New Appetizer: 230 recipes for today's party starters (Hardcover) This is a wonderful book. If you arern't hungry, you will be after just looking at the pictures and reading a few recipies. So far i've only tried one appetizer, one of the mexican egg roll types and they were just delicous. We ended up making enough so we just had that one appitzer for dinner, it was that great. My whole family agreed and if the first onei tried is any indication of the rest of the book, then this is one of the only book on apitzers you'll ever need.
